The desktop app

The desktop app#

capystreama is the Capystreama desktop application — a cross-platform Fyne app for the parts of your stream that live outside the game. Its headline features are the Item List (a todo / inventory tracker) and the OBS overlay server that broadcasts that list to your stream.

What’s inside#

  • Item List — a todo list that doubles as an inventory tracker, with Minecraft-style “stacks of 64” math, autosave, live reload, and Litematica CSV import.

  • OBS overlay — serve the current list as an OBS browser source over loopback, with live updates.

  • Website and i18n — build, preview, and deploy your schedule site without leaving the app.

  • Settings — logging, tray behavior, and the privacy options that keep your user name off the screen while you’re live.

  • Updates — on Windows, a signed auto-updater that verifies each release before applying it.

Everything above is in the app you download; see Installation for how to get it.

A host, not a monolith#

Under the hood the GUI is a host that knows nothing about any particular feature. Features register themselves with the host from an init function, and the ones listed above are compiled into the released binary. Features that live outside this repository can be linked in at build time with the xcaddy-style capystreama-build tool — see the repository’s BUILDING.md if you’re writing one.

The name is a portmanteau of capybara + streama(er) — hence the capybara.
